Let's Get It On
Ah, Saturday is here, like a faithful friend returning to take you out for some naughty times...and we can't go cruising out on a Saturday without getting the threads sorted out can we
For this week I've gone for a mix of pieces that have caught my eye of late...
Up and over, to welcome in the warmer months we have Engineered Garments new Lightweight Parka. This was seen this week on Liam Gallagher which tends to make things suddenly desirable,...I'm not one of those folks who gets all weak at the knees about something just because LG has it (I like LG, I just don't have a desire to wear every stitch of cloth he does), it's a Parka and I do love a Parka and I do admire this one. Nice to have a smart option done out in a lightweight material. It has all the requisite trappings, a hood, buttons, cuffs and the all important pockets for keeping all your wordly goods in check
Paisley Time, a man isn't done unless he has some Paisley about his soul, Pretty Green have brought back their 12 Colour Paisley scarf for SS16 and it's a belter. Yep, there are loads of great scarves out there from amazing places like Supernova, Pendleton-Snape and Calle Modista doing some seriously cool gear at prices that won't have you dropping down in the street. But sometimes it's just about a brand or a design, and for this one it's simply the PG House Paisley, it's a beauty. The material seems to have been fixed this year into a thicker silk fabric and the colours are incredible, they really pop.
Up top, a nice bit of Fred Perry x Sir Wiggo. Like a Parka, I do love a knitted Polo and the ones in these ranges have been amazingly good. This new one is another belter. A nice open textured weave on this keeps it feeling comfortable. Some lovely details in the checked weave round the arm and the championship stripes done out in the new SS16 colourways featuring blues and maroons
Legged, I was reminded this week of the amazing denim at Uniqlo by David Pottinger of the excellent blog Move On Up (check it out if you haven't already http://www.moveonupblog.co.uk/), so I've opted for some of their proper smart Selvedge...because it's Saturday and you can't go wearing any ordinary denim, it's gotta be some Selvedge goodness. Uniqlo offer a range of fits and washes and their prices are incredible for Japanese denim.
Tip-Toes, we're not strolling down the Riveria in our Tod's so I'm afraid socks are still required, so why not make things a bit interesting with these slim stripes from Paul Smith
Wheels, it's Saturday and no doubt that will involve some real Ale or some Continental Lagers, which will inevitably mean spillage...so a cracking pair of Clarks Beeswax Desert Treks mean you can spill to your hearts content without damaging the footwear. The darker colour of these should look pretty mean with your denim and the beeswax leather should mean these will look better year after year wear after wear
Have a great weekend whatever you're getting up, good tunes, good beers, good food, good mates, good times
Peace&Love, theSub
