Rapha Chevron Jersey
Eddy Merckx
Faema
Eddy, well if you're here reading a blog about cycling kit then I have to guess you know that name
Faema, and there is every chance you've heard of this Italian manufacturer of coffee machines also
Right, now we have that out the way let's crack on.
The Chevron, a kit design used throughout sport over many years, it's adorned kit worn by rugby players, football players, horse riders, etc. The Chevron itself has even become one of the most distinguished brand marques on kit as a certain Danish brand will testify.
In a cycling context it is most famously remembered as the kit kit worn by the Faema (and Faemino) cycling teams. Who of course counted a certain legendary Belgian within their ranks.
For 2019 Rapha have brought the design back on a very classically styled pair of new jerseys. There is something just right about Rapha using their sports merino wool mix fabric RPM150 on such a heritage styled jersey. The design is based on their Classic Jersey II, keeping things nice and simple.
There are some nice design flourishes also, the curved branding on the shoulders and the small colour pop on the zip-guard. They have even gone to the trouble of embroidering a tone-on-tone chevron on the back pockets of the jersey.
All of this held together by a pair of very muted colourways.
Some sizes available early from Rapha, £120
